THE TEN BEST ALTERNATIVE
GOUT REMIDIES
1. Fresh water
First thing I do when I start to feel the initial first slight swelling and heat forming is to try to drink THREE PINTS OF WATER. I rarely manage all three pints, its usually two and a half but three is what I am aiming for. On the odd occasion just the three pints is enough to ease off the attack. You can actually feel it making a big difference to the gout sensations after only a few minutes. I then aim to drink as much more water as I sensibly feel safe to over the next few hours.
The proofs in the pudding. DOES IT WORK?
OUR RATING : 100% helps towards giving some relief as it helps flush out the cystals and reduce swelling.
2. Raising heart rate
So you have added over two pints of water to your body. Water can be absorbed into the bloodstream in as little as five minutes with its maximum peak happening in around twenty minutes after drinking. If we want to dilute and dissolve crystals pumping the blood round a fair bit quicker is obviously going to be a huge help. Me personally would have already added taking an anti inflammatory if I felt the attack was going to be severe. If only a mild attack I tend to just use the ALTERNATIVES on offer here.
It doesn’t take a lot to get your heart rate up , a few trips briskly up the stairs or a few press-ups or standing squats. Clear your mind and feel what’s going on in your body.

OUR RATING : Defiantly helps if you catch the attack early, of no use if left to late.

3. ADJUSTING Your bloods ph level
Sounds a bit drastic but no its not. At this level the gout is still coming on strong after trying methods 1 +2 and you can feel this is going to turn into one of those pain for weeks type of attack.
This is a new approach to treating gout but has been used by athletes to help neutralise lactic acid after training and competing mainly in the Martial arts world for the last 5 years plus. It is done by using just advance Yoga breathing techniques than have been heavily modified . The effect of this is a temporary raise for around 35 minutes of you blood PH level.
A raise in PH means you blood becomes more alkaline, which if you remember from school neutralises acid and in this case the uric acid causing you pain and full blown Gout. This works well for myself .For the past few years an attack hasn’t managed to take hold if I use the three methods above. Method three often needs repeating after 30 minutes if the attack coming on severe.(seafood is my nemesis).

6. Cherry juice
Personally I found cherry’s a good way to avoid gout attacks starting and i’m sure it helps keep it at arms length.
Once a GOUT ATACK had started to take told I found cherry juice had LITTLE or NO BENEFIT.
CATCHING AN ATTACK AS IT STARTS IS KEY!
One of the most comprehensive studies on gout and cherry juice was conducted in 2012. It looked at 633 participants with gout. The researchers found that consuming at least 10 cherries per day reduced the risk of gout attacks by 35 percent. A combination of cherries and allopurinol, a medication often taken to reduce uric acid, reduced the risk of gout attacks by 75 percent.
According to the study, cherries reduce uric acid because they contain anthocyanins which is what gives cherries their colour. Anthocyanins are also found in other fruits, such as blueberries, but there’s a lack of conclusive research on the effects of blueberry consumption on gout.
Anthocyanins also have anti-inflammatory properties, another reason why cherry juice is a natural anti-inflammatory. As mentioned earlier, this likely reduces the frequency of gout flare ups.

7. NETTLES tea
Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) is an herbal remedy for gout that may reduce inflammation and pain.
Traditional use is frequently referred to in studies. There’s still no research directly proving it works. One study showed it protected the kidneys, but the subjects were male rabbits, and kidney injury was induced by administration of gentamicin, an antibiotic.
To try this tea, brew a cup by boiling water. Steep 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried nettle per cup of water. Drink up to 3 cups per day.

8. BAKING SODA
Some practitioners of natural healing suggest baking soda may ease gout symptoms. Since baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) can neutralize stomach acid, they believe consuming it will increase the alkalinity of your blood, and lower the amount of uric acid.
The dose recommended by baking soda advocates is ½ teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water, up to 8 times per day. They also suggest that those with high blood pressure, or those who monitor salt intake, consult with their doctor prior to trying this method.

OUR RATING : Small dose seemed to work for me. It could have been placebo effect but I defiantly felt swelling subside a small but noticeable amount.

10. lemon water
A 2017 study found that lemon juice and lemon extract helped lower uric acid levels in the blood. Adults with high uric acid levels drank freshly squeezed lemon juice (equivalent to a lemon a day) every day for 6 weeks.
The same research trial tested lemon fruit extract on mice with high uric acid. The mice also showed lowered levels of this acid.
Another clinical study reviewed the blood tests of 75 adults who drank freshly squeezed lemon juice every day.
